This detached house was treated to a brick cladding facelift
The old brick work didn’t match the bricks on the extension and the tiles on the apex section were looking a bit drab.
The homeowner even tried hiding the brickwork with ivy but got fed up of the invasive and destructive nature of this wall climber
Work involved cutting bricks down into brick slips, as the house is of cavity wall build the brick cladding was fixed using cement based polymer tile adhesive. Cement based adhesive should be used for external cladding (for cavity wall or new builds such as ICF or SIPS)
Instead of some of the bucket, ready to use adhesives the chemical set ensures a good bond, providing the walls have been prepared correctly.
We can also add a siloxane water proofing film to the brick work. This invisible surface impregnator protects against frost attack, repelling wind driven rain, this helps keep the walls drier and a little warmer
